Dr. Juliana Panchura Home town; Pittsburgh, PA
Education;
1976 BA Phi Beta Kappa in Chemistry and Art from Denison University, Granville, Ohio
1983 DMD from University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine
1985 Certificate in Orthodontics from UCLA, Los Angeles, CA
1988 MPH UCLA School of Public Health
Dr. Panchura came to Bend in 1989. Dr. Vince Quas at The Brace Place was looking for a partner for his growing orthodontic practice and Dr. Panchura was looking for a husband- a perfect match! Dr. Panchura comes to orthodontics naturally. Her father, Dr. Andrew Panchura and uncle, Dr. Francis Panchura both practiced orthodontics in the Pittsburgh area. She started working in her Dad’s office as a teenager. Continuing the family legacy is step-daughter Dr. Cate Quas, local Pediatric Dentist and Orthodontist at Bluefish Dental.
Dr. Panchura maintains strong ties with southern California. Her first job upon graduation was with the Pediatric and Family Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles. Now called Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center, she spends one week a month caring for the complex orthodontic needs of children with cleft lip, palate and other disfiguring birth defects. Dr. Panchura was on faculty of the UCLA Department of Orthodontics for over a decade. For over 20 years, she has been a featured speaker at regional, national and international orthodontic meetings.
Earning a degree in Public Health, Dr. Panchura developed the idea for Smile! Central Oregon from a public health prospective; How to deliver quality care affordably? Using the facilities at The Brace Place allows the clinic to reduce overhead costs. Patients and their families contribute “sweat equity” by volunteering for community service organizations. Dr. Panchura envisions a global movement where other professionals offer goods and services under a similar model. You can find the seeds for that movement in the Smile Partners section of the website. In these tough economic times people pull together and everyone comes out smiling!
Dr. Panchura takes a very practical approach to orthodontic treatment. She prides herself in offering a menu of services to meet patient’s primary concerns and budget. The timing of treatment can often reduce overall costs and help a child naturally develop a healthy, pleasing smile. An orthodontic check-up by age 7 is advised to screen for potential orthodontic problems.
